On this day in 1960 {June 18th} Jimmie Rodgers performed "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" on the ABC-TV program 'Dick Clark Saturday Night Beech-Nut Show' Two months earlier on Apr. 11th entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #44 & spent 9 weeks on the Top 100 Ten years earlier in 1950 Red Foley recorded it; his version reached #9 on Billboard's C&W Singles chart R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012} & Mr. Rodgers will celebrated his 80th birthday in 3 months on September 18th
