Somewhere is the most exciting track on the album, but most of the songs are basically just either alternate jam takes or earlier versions of songs we've already heard....still totally worth purchasing though, every recorded note of music Hendrix recorded is essential to me!

If you wear the brand of headphones from Jimi's mixing sessions, that can elucidate the mixology factors on the songs. 2:06, for instance!

I wish Sony would release reMastered versions of classic songs with clear guitar parts in the mix - more presence, up front, as well as placing the other musicians in the mix - but cleaner. Different mixed versions would be great, Kramer was great, but the music could be played now and not sound like a time capsule.

People,,lite up will you! I paid with in $10.00 for this album on CD.I wish it was bit better than it is and for Valleys Of Neptune song was on this, but it's better than all the piles of rubbish Allan Douglas produced Hendrix albums. Peace to all JIMI HENDRIX followers.

There's just not much left that will appeal to the masses, but I'll jump on board with whatever they put out at the moment because I have no choice, except I really dig listening to Jimi, no matter what it is. Complaining isn't gunna help it will only drive some people away.

I agree...Nothing we haven't heard before. Hendrix was about moving music forward, this is just another exercise in making money from the Hendrix 'brand' ugghhh!

true that... thanks for the insight.... im depressed from this album... Valleys of Neptune was actually good, but even then had some dry parts

seriously man... after this fucking album, im depressed.... i posted my bull shit already hahah, fuckin A man, i am really bummed and sad to see how it turned like this.. i saw a fender video with janie hendrix and so much hate... I know why now HAHAHAHA... i am sad to see its come to such exaggeration and low standards by which they wish to satisfy us... all the stuff with when jimi was around to hear, was beauteous.. Ppl hells and angels would be dismissed as a work in progress still.....

oh my god and the 12th track is only about 1:50 with no lyrics.... fuckin janie hendrix.... and whoever else who holds the rights to Jimi's stufff. You guys are holding FUCKING BACK!!! Fuckin A... Its all just slopped together.. hes showing the good stuff on the video... the sickest song... Mr Mojo Man wsnt as sick as i thought itd sound either... i literally too didnt wana spoil the purchase by watching the posted songs on youtube first, and it wasnt worth my anticipation... ima get shit 4this.

im just being pessimistic right now i think cause the begining of the album was hard to get into with 2 tracks of jimi not singing i felt was a waste and just time they used up and theyre not even really too structured, theyre pretty much jams that are really all over the place and spammed with sound, almost clouded sound, made to think it sounds like the "greatest thing youve never seen" Valleys of Neptune was definitly WAY BETTER!!!!!

basically its just something to add to your collection.. not much of a master, but like a rawness into the experimental set of what they were trying to get perfected... even then... the hype on "unreleased tracks" is so exaggerated... its got so much of the old lyrics and words jimi leaned towards in singing... but guy... the hype they put on this is not as gnarly as they try to make it seem

i just bought it... and as a fan.. im not pleased... i cant believe theyd make it 15 bucks for these tracks.. its more interestingly for a collection rather than a listen to groove and lyric depth.... the album seems super forced and pushed like whoever made it was not gonna care about audience response and to hoax us into just buying it... i was hyped until i received it in the mail and am listening to it now still... not the best, or great of a recorded album..... kinda bummed theyd do this.

This is Somewhere Over the Rainbow. At least the lyrics are from that song

Hi Everybody!

I agree this isn't the real Jimi we are hearing. Eddie Kramer continues to sadly come down in my estimation, however I've also read Lawrence's book and to me the most magical thing about it is her memory. I was 22 years old when Jimi died and I think for most people living in the 60s who were into Jimi's music it's very difficult to remember things people said, never mind remember conversations verbatim, so although I find her book interesting I've taken a large part of it with a pinch of salt.

All this has been available on BootLeg for decades.. Nice to have a good contemporary mix, though. The tune played is also used on the track "the stars that play with laughing sam's dice"

I'm pretty sure he plays this at the Rainbow Bridge concert, it sounds really familiar. I know I'll copshit for this, but I can't shake this feeling that they're really milking the cash cow dry. These are, as Eddie Kramer says, ideas, snippets, not finished songs...I wonder what Jimi would think, would he want un finished works released in his name? Who knows....I await the inevitable backlash etc.
