I liked the Meat Loaf version, I love this one. It has such a real feel to. Love it. Would like to hear Jim sing more.

This version sounds so country when compared to the others I've heard, it's nice for variety but I prefer the more operatic styles done on this song.

Never thought I would hear pedal steel on a Jim Steinman song. Blends perfectly with the Bach-inspired organ in the background. With Meat Loaf it's all about voice, with Jim it's all about all the rest. I think I prefer this version over Meat Loaf's, even it's just a demo and the vocal is far from perfect. Maybe because Jim never stops to surprise...

I grew up on Meat Loaf's version of this. Always thought it was a great song, but now I have a new respect for the song.

I love this version, I've never heard this before although I heard him talk about it on an interview. The Meatloaf version is the best by far but I'm a huge Country music fan and I love this version sung by Jim.

I read that the problem was that the instrumental tracks were already laid down. They had spent so much of the budget making the instrumental tracks they couldn't afford to redo them in Steinman's range. Also, some of the songs were actually sung by Rory Dodd, who sometimes sounds a lot like Steinman.

With that said, this is a very cool version of the song. Sounds interesting with a country influence, although it doesn't hold a candle to the one on Bat out of Hell ;P

I find it interesting that when he slips into his upper register after the first solo, it's identical to how he sings the entirety of the Bad for Good album. It's obviously not his natural register (although it still doesn't sound bad), it just sounds a little strained, which means that naturally his voice is a lot lower. I wonder why he didn't re-record the songs on Bad for Good in a lower, more appropriate key after Meat Loaf abandoned the project? It would have sounded far better :O

@MeatTycoonDevious Well its not full blown cancer he has this infection disease in his throat that if not treated will give him cancer. He posted it on his facebook last year november 2010. He is having it treated that is why he hasn't worked on his BOOH musical. However he posted this month that come 2012-2013 it should be in full blown production. He is just putting together the script now and looking for the right starting cast.
