I'm sure David McBath knows this, but this is an "overdubbed" version of the original. The original was released as an "album cut" on the 1961 LP "Tall Tales & Short Tempers" and got virtually no airplay at all. The background music on the 1961 version is drastically different from this version, much softer and more low key. This 1977 overdub was produced by Bud Logan (not Chet Atkins, who produced so many other JR overdubs, as well as all of his RCA songs while he was alive), Bud also is playing the electric guitar. This song was actually a pretty big hit for Jim in 1977, I know it got on the charts and got a lot of airplay but I don't know how high up it got.

I love this somewhat rare Jim Reeves song. Also I am an amature singer and I enjoy trying to sing his songs. I just recorded and posted my version of this song. Anyone who is interested please stop by and check it out.....Terry

I think this is the overdub version from around 1977(?). it's a little "sassier" than the original. I worked in country radio during that period and I recall this being a pretty strong hit at the time. at least, the station I worked for played the heck out of it...

First time I hear this song, understand that while I am not a raving fan of country, I can appreciate it's importance in the influence that it has, and this piece is a gem.

What an underrated song. This barely got airplay back in the day, I could never understand. One of my favorites by Jim, thanks for posting.

One of his best to me. I can't believe it was no more popular that it was. The guitar work unique for him and for that time period.
