This song was written by Rex Griffin after his wife Margaret left him and recorded it in 1939. I don't think Jim ever recorded it himself but he liked the song and performed it many times. Listen to his version of Rex Griffin's classic covered by many other country artists such as Hawkshaw Hawkins.

Jim Eanes - vocals and rhythm guitar

Dennis Schut - lead guitar

Jim could have been one of the biggest stars of his era, but he chose to live life his way. He had a satisfied mind.

Dennis, do you have Possum Hollow by Jim? Allan Shelton played the banjo. It was early fifties.

Jim had one of the smoothest voices of any singer. He could have been one of the greatest.

Thanks for the comment Henry! I am not sure if he sang something about a storm. Could ytou remember something more about the song you mean, maybe I know & remember then. I know he sang "It Rains Just The Same In Missouri", but have to think real hard and check all my recordings to see about something about a storm. best wishes, take care, Dennis

Thanks for the positive comments! I think that Jim Eanes was a wonderful guy and a still very underrated singer and songwriter. He picked up emotions from others very well and had a way to express them in his songwriting and singing as well as in his behavior and communication (verbal and non-verbal) towards others. I am proud to have known him and to haven been able to play with him and spend time with him while over in Europe. Luckily I had these recodings of him to share with you.
