The complaints about the different flavor of the voice and the bass, that the operatic voice and the jazz stlying of the bass are at a conflict is a valuable factor of the song, it is the pull from the cold to the warm. Ron carters reaching ahead of the beat at the bridge is correctly portraying the feeling of, "can't wait for spring". Her voice is clear as ice, this song, this version, is deeper and more powerful if you are willing to listen with more than your ears.

Concerning cross over the worse is maybe the interpretation of CREOLE LOVE CALL , famous Ellington masterpiece, provided by Kathleen Battle.

The bass player had a better idea how to play this song than a singer and piano player is just awful and the whole attempt at being Jazzy doesn't work. Jessye Norman is a wonderful singer in her genre but her phrasing and sense of time is all wrong for this kind of song. Why the people go out of their way to sound ridiculous?

@6040Jackie this is a pretty small intelligent prejudice of musical interpretation

Her talent is so blatant that I find it hard to fathom how anyone could not at least respect it, even if this is not a style of music that they enjoy.

True fine artistry. This talent and her interpretation belong in a musical/entertainment genre somewhere near and abouts "High Humanity." Rather than name calling (opera, jazz, White, Black, familiar, the other, etc.) let's picture this: A highly trained voice from a beyond beautiful artist, brings to life a LeGrand interpretation on Spring & Love. Do tell: Do you know what what love is? If you do then can you tell me why Spring haunts all of us still searching? I remember now I must believe.

I love her interpretation of this exquisite Michel Legrand -Bergman song. Tony Bennett has a nice version also. A great song!
