Jerry Hadley sings Nemorino's act II aria from L'elisir D'amore by Donizetti. 1985. Jerry Hadley (June 16, 1952 July 18, 2007) was a student of my teacher from 1978, after getting his masters degree in music from the University of Illinois in 1977. He then started teaching at the University of Connecticut. A 1993 article by Noël Goodwin in Opera magazine stated, "After 15 years Hadley still goes back to this Sicilian American who, he says, gave him confidence and secure knowledge of what he is doing with his voice at any given time, through teaching methods that are direct and physiological." Hadley also stated, "(I was) lucky above all else to have found a teacher in New York without whom I really doubt I could have really built the career I have." Here he displays wonderful balanced vocal registration and release of constriction which are the cornerstones of the technique that he learned and that I teach.

He sings so clean and wonderfully! I miss him. Why was he never given the chance to release a program of tenor arias? I only have his cd of musical theatre songs, Standing Room Only, which I love! Was someone coughing in the audience?! Really?!! Lol!

I'm sorry but he doesn't sound like a true Opera singer. His voice sounds somewhat non-classical!!!!!!!!

I saw him do this role in the house complete in Chicago not long after this and his lyric tenor projected fine, of course no amplification. He was in prime voice when I saw him and the aria in the opera house was beautiful. A comparison to Kaufmann is not a good one because Hadley was a lyric tenor and Kaufmann is more a Spinto. Too different and in this role Hadley is better .

I mean you have to admit kaufmann is a good singer. I mean una furtiva lagrima is probably not the most fitting for his voice, but man does kaufmann have a voice. People are put off by a true heldentenor sound, but there's nothing unnatural about it. You can't have an unnatural sound and diminuendo from a hgih Bb (flower song)

If only.....He always looked as if he loved singing. He was joyous. He is at peace, but those who knew him and loved him lose him every day.

You just gotta love it when someone starts coughing in the middle of your cadenza.
