Take out the musica ficta and the piece becomes as dull as dishwater.

Sad to whinge about ficta. This is the best sound ever! Musicological bores will always exist however, like terrorism and viruses.

What you hear at 2:11 is an imperfect 8ve, or false relation. The B flat has been raised to get a leading tone for the cadence, and rightly so. This is what Richafort wanted. 25 years ago it would have been left uninflected to avoid the imperfect 8ve, but the Huelgas was one of the 1st ensembles to realize that these dissonances are a defining feature of these composers ca. 1520-1560. Evidence? 16th cen. theorists + lute/organ transcriptions where tablature leaves no doubt which note is right.

@Trucci6884 dissonance can often be used on purpose but this doesn't seem justified... it seams as though the writer simply connected to thoughts and themes clumsily.... An excellent use of dissonance and atonality can be found in Morten Lauridson's "Madrigali: IV- Io Piango"

@JoelvanLennep It's called a dissonance and is often mistaken with a false note..Google for more info..;-)

Is there any sequence?

Beautiful, but what happened at 2:11? It cannot be mandated by ficta considerations.
