Oboe hautbois jazz, recorded live, 2004 http://www.jeanlucfillon.com

Jean-Luc Fillon : oboe, english horn, duduk

João Paulo : piano

Carlo Rizzo : tambourins

Jean-Luc Fillon is today on his preferred instruments, the oboe and the English horn, on which he reveals his true talents as a melodist. We cannot help but be seduced by the rich sound, the authenticity and the lyricism of the oboe -- an instrument which up until now has been confined to traditional written music - combined with the virtuosity of this exceptional improviser.

Since 2001, he has been continuously working, making numerous sound recordings and giving live performances, illustrating the innovative and original character of his artistic initiative. He has worked with a large number of musicians:

Mark Feldman, Patrice Caratini, Antoine Hervé, Claude Barthélémy, Georges Rabol, Bob Mintzer, Glenn Ferris, Michele Hendricks, Paolo Fresu, Nguyen Lee, Jean-Marc Padovani, Lauren Newton, Pierre Blanchard, Olivier Ker Ourio, Michel Bénita, Jean-Jacques Avenel, Tony Rabeson, Michael Ferlberbaum, Karl Jannuska, Jarrod Cagwin, João Paulo, Didier Ithurssary, Bruno Rousselet, Fawzy Al Aiedy, Adel Shams El-Din, Michael Rabinowitz, Paul Hanson, Ronnie Lynn Patterson...

I AM SO SURPRISED THAT NO AMERICAN MAJOR RECORD COMPANY HAD SIGNED HIM UP. HE REALLY SOUNDS LIKE WAYNE SHORTER. FROM WEATHER REPORTAMAZING. THE OBOE AND ENGLISH HORN SOUNDS SO SIMILAR TO THE SOPRANO SAXOPHONE. TRULY AMAZING!

It's pretty much, just a soprano saxophone... Just without that metallic(ish) sound.

Can you give me some tips on how you play? Did you develop a different tone for jazz? If so, how? How do you play without vibrato and make it sound so great? Is it in the reeds?

As a guy who occasionally listens to the local, what "smooth jazz"/"fuzak" station, I have to say I've heard just about all the alto sax (or sax in general) that Iever wanted to. Definitely nice to hear a new timbre, obe seems to hit the spot nicely.

I have only watched this video once, and am already sniffing and chewing my food to its beat. Oboes are the best...

Your grammatical presentation invalidates any chance of you being taken seriously. Secondly, your feeble-minded view of music discredits your intellectual validity. I'd suggest you not comment here again.
