Man I just have to live and grow up in Knoxville and east TN rather than Memphis. I've always found it strange the Memphis and Detroit sounds are almost identical. I think in the early days of rock all those headed to Nashville to record kept moving on and the real rockers stop/stayed in Memphis. RIP Jay

feel lucky you don't live in belgium, I guess the only crowds that are "enjoying" themselves are the drugged up "ravers", for there's no pressure to dress to impress and act as if you've seen/heard. It's a hype across the globe, go to shows, feeling exhilarated to move, won't budge cause they might feel solitary and vulnerable if they're the one starting or end up being the only ones enjoying themselves. oh but wait till they tell you about the awesome gig they've been too! maybe they're shocked

or the piezo has been damped, or using pedal/rack Fx rather than amp saturation. or the most likely this day and age, The P.A. probably insisted to not have the amp at a high volume, mic/ DI it and let the monitors give him his stage volume, or he's using an acoustic guitar amp with built in effects, which reduces the feedback, or the P.A. just cut some frequencies , most commonly between 55 and 720 Hz, hope I've been of some help. if you don't mind me asking, why are you asking?

Jay actually said that when he played shows, he didn't want his audience to do anything. Not even applaud. So this would be considered a good crowd to him.

Is it just me or do the crowds begin to lose their enthusiasm after he signed to Matador? No offense to Matador, much love to ya. Was he the opening act in these shows? Seems like his sound softened a little (especially the production). Not hard enough for hardcore fans and too hard for the mainstream. Was he told to soften his sound or was he just evolving as he became older?
