From the CD Terroir Blues

I will wat for you in the green, green spaces,

Wearing our post-industrial faces.

Side by side sit the trashpile twin,

And the eleventh century center of the Misissippian,

With the calender of the sun,

A people undone.

Ceremonial mounds in the backyards and towns,

That's the way it runed out.

A city built up on the other great mound torn down,

That's the way it happened.

A culture on the run,

They vanished in the sun,

The Mississippian.

Forward and on we go,

Building our mounds out of control,

Full of our finest throw away things.

The new Mississippians,

Under a smog choked sun,

Waiting to be undone.

next to these huge mounds across the highway there is a just as big landfill quite funny or sad not sure which they probably destroyed some native's resting place just to dump some trash

This is a good video. Just letting you all know that that this song is about the cahokian indians also called the Mississippians. they were all over middle of the before the white contact. they built huge mounds which are a historic landmark. They thrived to over 100, 000 people then they mysteriously left the city and or vanished not really sure havent been to the mounds in a while to see. it is a real place near where jay farrar, jeff tweedy, myself and others grew up just east of St. Louis

Mr. terr0rkitten, I have been fixated on this production of yours for two days. It is as masterful as Jay's music. It captures the Dialectic and is painfully transformational. Thank you for sharing your artistry.

Hi, thanks for the kind words. It was footage from a film archive - I just poked about until I found something that was pleasing with the music.

I made it. I have received several tongue lashing about how it is inaccurate with regard to the music. I only mention that in case that was an issue- I like to play, find pleasing footage that might increase the enjoyment of listening to a great tune

Nice video. Jay writes some of the most relevant and honest music.
