Listening, hearing, with respect, with a respectful frame of mind, and enjoying much.

I think he is repeating what he heard as a child...'we don't eat till your Father's at the table'...referring (possibly) live father and to saying grace. beautiful.

Emma DeStefano - To answer your question (based on the lyrics). It's evident that he grew up in a Christian/Catholic household (him being Irish). Consequntly he was taught the Bible along with certain religious principles from an early age. It's been roughly 2000 years since Jesus Christ was crucified. In Jesus' lifetime he had desciples/followers. Peter, James, Andrew & John were desciples who were fishermen, who Jesus' called to follow him while they were mending there nets on the Galilean sea. Jesus asked them to go out and fish again after they had caught nothing all day. Reluctantly they obliged and their faith was rewarded when they cast their nets on the "right" side of the boat (John 21:6) thus the reference in the lyrics. As James Vincent McMorrow grew up he became disillusioned with religion and rejected God probably due to the violence in Ireland which stemmed primarily from religious wars. However He left himself a "Safety-net/a way back" if you will.Namely - "So if in the future I might need myself a saviorI'll remember what was written on that wall"Hope this helped.
