Hunter is a modern singer who unapologetically embraces the R&B sounds of the 50s and early 60s. Hes developed a sizeable following in the UK for his brand of authentic soul music, which he is now bringing to the US. He found a fan in legendary singer Van Morrison, and ended up touring with him on both sides of the Atlantic. At a time when radio is spewing a fair amount of anti-music, theres a lot of appeal to his work that basks in engaging tunes, soulful vocals and the simple arrangements of guitar, bass, saxophone and drums. First time I heard People Gonna Talk, I thought it was both an obscure black artist and a song from the 60's. How wild it's less than ten years old and it's an English dude. Very curious to hear more of his work-- I love the oldies sound!

James Hunter and his band -- now "The Six" -- are going to be as big as The Beatles. And Jesse Dee, who opened for them early on, is the next musical giant. Anyone who was fortunate enough to hear the James Hunter Band and Jesse Dee will never get over it.

I have seen James Hunter 5 times, twice at Rams Head in Annapolis, MD, once at Wolf Trap in Wash. DC,once in Chapel Hill, NC and Nashville,TN. I guess you could call me a fan of him and his band. I am going back to Annapolis, MD to see him. James is so creative and talented and surrounds himself with extremely talented musicians. Musically this has been the best thing to happen to me in the 2nd millenium. ( well I guess it would be considered the begining of the 3rd millenium)

I just randomly decided to buy his recent release (Minute by Minute) as a result of a store credit for a returned item. The local record store (yes, a record store) had his CD on display. I asked about it and the salesman's description could be summarized as "it's good soul music". That was outside of my comfort zone of music which I'm sure I'll like. However, I decided to go the "road less traveled" by getting it. I'm glad I did! Now I just hope I can see him play sometime.

Saw him last year at Nottingham's City Pulse Festival. He was brilliant! Pity he is not playing again this year. This bloke is a genuine talent and nice to boot. He took time to meet and greet everyone that wanted to meet him and get their cd's signed. Thanks James. Diamond Geezer!

Both albums are terrific. Love the sax lines and the organ shots. Sounds like the 60's but with a brand new feel. Rockit in the pocket. Cheers
