James Hendrix had been a member of The Big Three & The Mugwumps, both with Cass Elliot. In '67 he wrote this song, which became a hit for Johnny Rivers. Rivers gave him a recording contract with his Soul City label & Hendrcks released an lp in 1968 which included this version as well as City Ways & Look to Your Soul, other songs recorded by Johnny Rivers.

I believe that he did indeed "consumate" his marriage with Cass...they had a daughter together. Geez

Dis you know he married Cass Elliot to get out of the draft. I don't think marriage was ever consummated. You can tell your friends that Mama Cass Elliot was married to Jim Hendrix. They will say your nuts then you bet them. Did not know he wrote this great song.

Hi, Thanks for a great listen! Didn't expect to find this on youtube. Owned this album late sixties. My fave track was Colorado Rocky Mountains. Not a poor track on the album.

YouTube is merciless. I was gonna say that this is so much more peaceful than Johnny Rivers' version.

Maybe you can buy it; many of us can't as Google Play Store is not available worldwide.

Many, most, if not all of the songs from the 1969-70 [anti-establishment] TV show "Then Came Bronson" were written by James Hendricks. The star of the show, Michael Parks, sang the songs very much in the style of the composer. I think this was also one of the vinyl albums I ripped to my computer as I could not find it anywhere else, in a digital sense.

Yes, it's from vinyl. AFAIK, it hasn't been released on CD.

Did you rip this from vinyl? A very obscure album that I happen to be very familiar with.
