First saw him perform in the late 60's and have been lucky enough to have seen him and his fellow musicians at four more recitals. Just wish he/they still toured - many thanks gentlemen.

Chopin hated to write the notes on paper cause this would give a hard form. He loved the variations of his pieces. I think it could be similar to Bach.

Jacques Loussier is the best. I don't know any musician who did a better job playing classical pieces in a jazz style than him.

Improvisation is not meant at improving anything, but at making it personal and different, it's an interesting exercise of creativity, both for musician AND listener. For listeners can also be creative, which is something important & understated. If one can only play exactly what's written, 1 recorded version would be enough, so I don't know what the other thousands out there add. In any way, Shakespeare's approval of today's English is not needed for writing beautiful contemporary poetry.
