By the way, Selanik is the short form of saying Thessaloniki. Thes-salonik-i. So salonik is easily pronounced Selanik in Turkish. It is the original name. As like Constantinople : Con - stantinople - istantinoble - istanbul. These names comes from original greek names. They are not Turkish names, but we are having difficulties to pronoun greek names.
