I find this cover to be in-fact some exceptionally raw--as Lisa Mitchell as a live artist consistently is--, hollow, "tenderly" (so to speak) beautiful work... far from "weak". Vocally she gifts deep meaning, darkness, to songs; adding, never taking. She is seemingly able to give a very personalized, subjective take -- an intimidating shadow -- to lyrics, to songs. I find those criticizing Lisa Mitchell's vocals as conforming to "a style" are using their judgement to quite shallowly generalise. Mitchell's vocals aren't restricted by a "style"; such compared style of singing tends to lend itself useful in hiding lack of sincerity, in hiding lack of understanding of what is being sung. It is a marketable faux. This cover... Nick Cave's original gives expression of course dissimilarly, in a way one may prefer; in a way I, whilst am appreciative of, do not.

Nevertheless its a winner for everyone involved and grateful they captured an instance of it. The DVD will be my birthday present to self this year (because nobody who likes Lisa Mitchell has friends haaha ;)

Yeah, I knew my argument wasn't the best; polarising isn't the right word for Mitchell, while I agree that it is for Cave (and others like Bob Dylan too). More people would either love or hate Cave, than Mitchell where many I suppose would be rather indifferent.
