So, I am glad Floor will use a more broad choice of vocal genres but won't be following a lyrical path because for as versatile as people claim her to be, in lyrical singing she is not that great and can't match Tarja's rich timbre and controlled high notes. Her forté is her rocky and powerful singing and that's where she stands out and will stop or at least limit the comparisons.

i fell like thoumas have ben stemplet as the bad guy. but tarja did really make the band depressed and that isnot okay. she is a well god singer. but it would be the end of the band if they kept tarja couse i know it is hard to say as a tarja fan but : she did it wrong. she maket her husband marcello control the band so ye it is better for tarja to be solo. beside thoumas and thi other is better without tarja.

Well, the shame is that, although they did not bring another operatic singer to the band, the new singer still was and still is compared to Tarja. They could have chosen anyone, operatic, pop whatever, those dumbasses would have never stopped comparing the singers. I of course compared Anette to Tarja when I first heard Dark passion Play but if you know a bit of music and voices you can hear that Anette's voice and also the songs in which she appears are easy to seperate from the Tarja songs :)

Tarja wouldn't have done Dark Passion Play any justice. Tuomas went in a musical direction far beyond anything that preceded it. He took the opportunity of the new voice of Nightwish and hit the ground running. Metal is not like TV. When something happens and fans whine about it, nothing changes. A true composer never lets anything get in his way. I can only hope to be as disciplined one day.

Is she? When Liv can perform Crimson Deep or Tarja's version of Still of The Night nearly as good as Tarja can, get back to me ;) The only people capable of going against Tarja are Simone Simmons and Sharon Den Adel. All the rest, falls short.

I think Nightwish did the right choice by bringing in a singer who's vocal style is completely different from Tarja. For one, like he said, if they brought in another operatic singer there would be endless comparisons of style because they'd be so similar. Second, I think Anette's voice allows the band to expand more, musically. Tarja's voice is amazing! It's beautiful! Angel like! But it definitely kept the band limited, musically and no artist wants to do the same sound forever.
