"Will the love of God she'd his grace upon the evil side of man?"....and metal was never the same! Great song, great album, you can't "like" this band, you either absolutely HATE IT or absolutely LOVE IT! Most will fall into the former category, and I don't blame them; it's not written for everyone to like. But for those of us who make up that less than 1% of the world population who are fans of extreme metal, this track starts the career of one of the most inventive bands of all time. I prefer Here In After because it captured the band's energy better, but at the same time what this album was unable to capture in the studio is also what makes it great. Other albums of Immolation have a heavier feel, this one feels the most like one of their central themes: languishing in the void of the after-life. Maybe God exists, maybe he doesn't. If he does we're fucked; because you know it, I know it, WE AREN'T SAVED. If the bible is at all true then reading it tells you that God is NOT all powerful: He created man in His own image then damned us for the sinful nature we inherited from Him. He smote Sodom and Gomorrah; He wiped out the entire world with a flood; hardened the heart of the Pharaoh so that the Pharaoh would not let the Jews go and then killed the first-born of every Egyptian and swallowed the army in the Red Sea directly because of it; rejected that generation for worrying that they had no food and made them wander the wilderness for 40 years including His greatest servant Moses; when Moses died He put Joshua in charge and ordered the death of every man, woman, and child of the land of Canaan and punished one of Joshua's generals for showing mercy on some women and children. And that God supposedly loved us so much He gave His only begotten son? The God of the Old Testament doesn't love, He punishes. And if He exists He won't save us, He will damn us for eternity. Thanks a lot for fixing my soul to flesh and then bestowing on me a desire for pursuing gratification of that flesh, giving me lust then damming me for it!
