Well, you're right, I'm left, she's gone.

You're right, and I'm left all alone.

Well, you tried to tell me so,

But how was I to know

That she was not the one for me?

You told me all along,

You're right, our love was so wrong.

But now I changed my mind,

Because she broke the ties that bind,

And I know that she never cared for me.

Well, I thought I knew just what she'd do,

I guess I'm not so smart.

Oh, you tried to tell me along

she'd only break my heart.

I'm left, you're right, she's gone.

You're right, and I'm left all alone.

Well, she's gone I know not where,

But now I just don't care.

For now I'm falling for you.

If you'll forgive me now,

I'll make it up somehow.

So happy we will be,

In a home just for three,

And I'll soon forget her,

Now I know.

Well, I thought I knew just what she'd do,

I guess I'm not so smart.

You tried to tell me all along,

She'd only break my heart.

Well, you're right, I'm left, she's gone.

You're right, and I'm left all alone.

Well, she's gone, I know not where,

But now I just don't care,

For now I've fallen for you.

Going into the depths of Elvis, what can you say about genius like this?

Would you believe I was sent here by a 15-year-old? If you think teenagers all listen to artificial garbage: IT AIN'T SO!!! He's much cooler than I was at his age, and I was pretty cool. I grew up in the 80s, and I liked it, but prided myself on exploring the best of the past: Beatles, Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, Dylan, Stones, Kinks, Bowie, much more ... but skipped most of the 50s, and ignored Elvis almost *entirely!* Now I'm (you can guess how old), and I just feel dumb. We were talking about a 1996 Lou Reed song, and this kid tells me exactly where the riff came from -- and he's absolutely right. Damn!I've just listened to five early Elvis songs in a row, most of them for the first time. This is real musical sophistication. Even if you only use three chords, there's good and bad ways to do it. It's not as easy as Scotty Moore and the rest of the band makes it sound. Tasteful. Some people forget, but Elvis was a truly great singer. No wonder he inspired so many musicians. Unfortunately, his legends and myths, the tales of excess and weirdness, have overshadowed his music, in the media. I have read about Elvis more than I've listened to him. That's kinda fucked up.My friend's username is *natetheguitarkid* and he's a musical genius; his channel has lots of originals and covers.

Che peccato che allora la tecnologia non permetteva le riprese in movimento.

What a great old Rockabilly tune! Sure thing Keith Richards, who choose this for a compilation cd of songs he loves, knows what he's talkin' about. Thanks Keith, for pointing this Elvis classic out to me...
