Mavis' sister (named Yvonne I believe) had an unbelievable voice too, and I've wondered if there are any recordings of her singing lead.Love the album picture. You'd never suspect that little girl could scorch your soul with her voice, just looking at her there. Surprise!

what can you find on youtube to top this? how can this not be the last song you listen to? "Just tell my mother now don’t she cry / She knows her little child was born to die"

I want to tell my family to play this @ my funeral, but do not know how to present it in a way that doesn't make them worry about me making such a request.

In 1959 this was, according to the most popular cliche used to describe a musical score this brilliant, light years before it's time. Mavis had one of the greatest voices to ever be put on vinyl.

Impresionante este I'm comming home. Disfrútalo!

Beautiful song! I heard it on Sons Of Anarchy of all shows. They know the songs to play to enhance the show and downplay some of the madness on the show. Those of you who've seen it and watch it know what I'm talking about.

Wow! This song is overwhelmingly haunting and Roebuck's guitar is pure Mississippi primitive. Put me in a trance.

The last time I saw them in person, this is how they looked. Newark, New Jersey Laurel Garden. Coincidentally, it was 1959. That summer, I moved upstate New York to live with my father. Didn't hear gospel music again for 5 years.
