I am so into the U.S. Open that I thought I wouldn't get to my radio show broadcast, however This is DBS...and tonight we are celebrating the music of Harry Warren...he wrote two scores for Judy....her last movie "Summer Stock" and the wonderful music from "The Harvey Girls" which produced a huge hit for Judy entitled "On the Atchison Topeka and the Santa Fe"! He wrote that number one tune with Johnny Mercer! (Judy's one time love) who incidentally wrote "That Old Black Magic" especially for Judy since she was part Black Irish! This is a very sexy number for the year 1950...this is the movie where everyone claims that Judy's version of Arlen's "Get Happy" was stock footage since she was so much thinner....nope she just took off 20 pounds after the wrap on the movie, insisted on "Get Happy" and there she was slim and beautiful! This is just a fun fun song intoning the fact that everyone should sing even if we "All can't be Bing"!
