Yes, they were. I was just lamenting to my mother today that it was the last great decade for music. With the possible exception of Gotye and Kimbra now, the music that has been released in the last two decades has been horrible. If it's not gangsta then it's a generic boyband. And Icehouse STILL puts out great music! I miss the 80's, sigh..... :'(

This would have to be my favorite Icehouse track of all time, from my favorite album of all time, Measure for Measure. This album has some of the most beautiful, and some of the most humorous tracks Iva Davies has ever written. But No Promises has to be the most beautiful and the most haunting. I like the album cut the best. I've seen Iva recently, and he still looks (and sounds) like sex on a stick, bless his heart!

This song is from the Measure For Measure album and there is an "Extended Dance Mix" on Great Southern Land - these are on the American releases at least. I have everything on original LPs and quite a bit on CD release, but I just ordered the White Heat CDs and the Flowers 30th Anniversary CD to make sure I have everything on CD. So much great music!

Have been a closet admirer of Icehouse since the late 80"s... all my friends were hard rockers.I always enjoyed the sensitivities of the lyrics and the fantastic arrangements but mostly Iva's voice. Icehouse for me seems to be an addiction... I keep coming back year after year.
