Always liked Ian & Echo. Never bought an album in my life because of a drummer unless he could write lyrics. tap tap tap boom. wow man.

Wonder if the lyrics are partly about manager Bill Drummond. "You said we had to face what's coming. Then I saw you in the distance off and running." Could be about him dropping out in 1985 before their major success in America. Of course, Ian cleverly changes it in the next verse to "in the mirror off and running." The Bunnymen should play this one live. It's a forgotten classic.

You guys are 100% correct when you say that Boris williams was the Cure's all-time-best drummer. praise Boris! Andy Anderson was pretty good-- but not as good as Boris.

I'm glad the Ian and his Bunnie's never got big as U2, for I have been enjoyed being up close with them in small venues for over 20 + yrs!!

It isn’t often that an artist has the resources, budget, or creativity to bring their audio lyrics to life. Ian McCulloch has triumphed over this challenge. Proud to Fall seeks your attention. Impossible to resist, the viewer is locked tight with a sympathy grip watching McCulloch struggle to carry the world over his shoulder, 1 earnest step at a time. Ian becomes ‘the little train that could’ – chains, flames and all. After all, everyone loves a happy ending.

@bookwormgal1996 Glad you got Candleland and Mysterio! I got them the day they were released and never understood why I felt I was the only one to know who Ian was, always nice to see someone other than me knows this music. Thanks to youtube!

This has been the song I've turned to after a few lost relationships - poignant and catchy - can make you cry sometimes.
