You can make another guitar players sound your own, There is so much bullshit and hype about gear and pedals nowadays and you will spend thousands searching, just to find out that it was the basic amp and guitar sound you had in the 1st place that you liked the most.. There is nothing special about the sound of most of the great players... ITS WHAT THEY DO WITH IT!!

First of all you'll never sound like Jimmy Page, because no two players are a like, One of my favorite solos by Jimmy is the very short but very effective lead riff he nails in Whole Lotta Love on the Zep II album, even Jimmy can't do that solo the same way, his live versions aren't even in the ball park. Let's remember Mr. Page was a brilliant producer he chased the perfect sound and tone. Ok why I'm writing, I was messing around this morning and got pretty close to Jimmys guitar tone from the first Zep album.Gear used.Orange Micro Terror,,,tone 10,,,gain 10Behringer TO100 Tube Overdrivedrive,,,10 o'clock,,,tone,,,12 o'clock,,,level,,,10 o'clock.Les Paul,,,bridge pick up, vol. 9, treble 10, using a wah pedal cock it in the position to get more treble because a Les Paul can't get as high a pitch as a Tele.Bugera 2x12 cabinet used.I was playing Good Times Bad Times and the guitar tone was pretty much on the money and that was with a Les Paul.

for the explanation, the video is good. but to sound like Page, you should NOT use a Telecaster. Page used a 1964 Stratocaster from 1967-1970 given by Jeff Beck after said left The Yardbirds. Page then repaintet it white with psychedelic colors - watch 1968 performances of Yardbirds of later Zep songs as "Dazed and Confused" (of course not a page composition in full). After the second album, Page switched to a Les Paul 59 (sunburst) and later to a les paul gold top.

I enjoyed your demo very much, the Marshall 1987 Plexi was great, the Tele did have a really nice authentic late'50s Esquire tone bypass, definitely nailed the lead tones and as you said with a lil goosing here and there in the studio you can get really close enough as you did to doing covers. With that tone being so close though using a Solasound or even the Treble Booster of its day like the MkI,MkI.5 MkII with the Echoplex E-1,or WEM Copykat you'd have to record with a Supro to get that decent clean big tone because even with the compression on a larger amp with or without a tube rectifier would over power the recording capabilities of its day, I know I've tried it with a 1/2 half track for layering on to a 4 track Revox or even the Teac as they or Eddie Kramer would have for the 1st two albums, but your basics are there in ''SPADES,GREAT JOB MITCH THANKS''!!btw what a difference in technology it was from the earlier times to the time the great lead on Stairway to Heaven was completed, huh? LOL!!
