I always thought that the first verse of this song has the best rock lyrics ever written. So I sing it again at the end of the song. I love the slide guitar, especially in the version done by Johnny Winter. I certainly can't play like him, so had to create my own unique arraingment while trying to keep the basic feel of the song. I also wrote my own two verses, which may be sacraligious for Dylan fans, but I never much liked the other verses, and wanted to say something different in them. I tried to use Dylans style and feel, and I hope you like them;
Lyrics;
God said to Abraham, "kill me a son." Abe said "Man you must be puttin me on."
God said "No". Abe said "What?"
God said; "You can do what you want but,
The next time you see me coming you better run."
Abe said; "Where you want this killing done?"
God said; "On Highway 61."
Loui the King said to Jimmy Bone. "Hey man you been doing me wrong.
It's time for me to even the score. Gonna start the next world war."
Jimmy said; "Now wait a minute son. This war could kill everyone,
So take it out to Highway 61
Poor Henry said; "Now this ain't fair. Everything I touch just turns to air.
And nobody ever seems to care. They too busy trying to get their share.
Well they aint stupid, but they sure is dumb. They can't walk but they always run
Straight down to Highway 61
