it means variation in production hence vip's normally sound well similar to the original, where as a remix can sometimes sound nothing like the original tune handgrenade remix by clipz is a good example, its a massive tune, but sounds nothing like the twisted individual version

haha it was a joke man (they tend to be quite similiar ;) Originally it was a way of freshening up an old track for the "very important" DJs. Keeps people hyped up for a bit longer. Once a track's been released to the public it loses some of it's wow factor so they make the VIP. Now its just a way of increasing sales on older tracks... VIP tags are thrown around all over the place. Hope that helps
