Artist, musician, novelist, poet, madman, king of trash punk, all these things describe the legendary Billy Childish but none quite sum him up. Billy Childish has reinvented himself more times than Billy Liar, but has never lost his raw edge and sardonic wit. Angry and funny at the same time he can stick a knife into the British Institution or take you surfing on the next big crazy wave. Part sixties bubblegum part seventies punk with a hefty dose of Link Wray for good measures his musical output is truly prolific, with over 100 albums to his credit. Drawing inspiration from every thing from Beach Party movies to Westerns, pub culture to politics, Billy Childish can write a good song about virtually anything. Championed by the likes of Kurt Cobain and The White Stripes, Billy Childish doesn't look like he's going to stop any day soon and that is great news for anyone who loves pure pop music.

Thee Headcoats are touring and recording ferociously. Caught live at the Picket, Liverpool on 29th September 1993 Billy has stuck to his belief in musical devolution and paired his band down to the bare minimum without losing any of the impact. Indeed Thee Headcoats are, if anything a more powerful outfit. Not one to be thought of as selfish the second half of the set features the band's girlfriends AKA Thee Headcoatees on vocals. It's raw stuff for sure but Billy's stage presence and ear for catchy melodies ensures that its still great to listen to and just a much fun to watch.
