Album: Aerial Ballet (1968)

There's some confusion as to what album this is from, but I'm too lazy to look anything up.

A beatles rip off, but as good as any of their stuff.

Just as a poem, the meter and rhyme structure of this is pretty amazing. There's a sophistication to the lyrics that goes beyond just prose and imagery. Very underrated.

Yes, Beatlesque, especially w/the horns.

Honestly Harry Nilsson's style reminds me of a combination of The Beatles and The Beach Boys. His song style reminds me a lot of the Beatles, and the heaviness of orchestration and the overall blend of the sound is taken right from Today and Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys.

This honestly sounds like it could had been a Beatles song. Harry was a fifth Beatle, I can listen to anyone of his songs and enjoy, just like the Beatles.

@fatszenji89 He copied no ones music. But lots are influenced by each other.I can see the influence. in both. He spent a lot of time with John Lennon and Ringo Starr

I'm just reiterating craigraven's comment really. Sandie Shaw covered this in 1968 and it was a good version, well sung. It didn't chart in the UK though, I think. ....can I find it anywhere?.......no. Certainly not on YouTube.

His first album for RCA was Pandemonium Shadow Show, his second was Aerial Ballet. That is where this recording comes from. I believe the next album was (confusingly) Aerial Pandemonium Ballet - which featured the same recording, or many elements of it, along with a classical guitar, and new vocals. (someone should post that one - maybe I will.)
