While Ringo isn't considered a great drummer, it is a known fact The Beatles inspired many to take up the guitar, drums or whatever. It was also Ringo Starr that introduced the matching grip way of holding drumsticks to enable him to get more volume from his drums than with the traditional grip.

In his time, Ringo Starr was considered the best drummer around. And now, his son Zack is one ACE drummer.

Yes, the whole band of the McCoys went to Johnny Winter, and Ringo still looks like Ringo behind the skins.....too cool!

One of the best songs to ever come out of the 60's, without question. Man I miss those days.

The Dave Clark Five were going to record it after hearing the Strangeloves play it. The writers gave the song to Rick and the Raiders, to record the song instead. The group's name was changed to The McCoys (to avoid confusion with another popular band of the era, Paul Revere and the Raiders), and their 16-year-old leader, Rick Zehringer, became known as Rick Derringer.

Daughter of one of the originals. That's cool, and proud you are. However, if The McCoys hadn't recorded it, I doubt I would even know the song. I'm not knockin' The Vibrations (whoever they were), I'm jes sayin'...

Jaylee, Ringo was quite the innovative drummer in his day and almost every single rock drummer that was alive in Feb. '64 and saw the Beatles on Sullivan credit him with their start. He was the perfect compliment for the Beatles. Remember they sought him out.

I think you misunderstood what Rick was saying. All he said was it was their first record. He didn't say he wrote it, and everywhere I look I see that the Vibrations were the first to record it and it was written by Wes Farrell and Bert Russell.

Congrats to your father.....I've been a musician for over 40 years and I know how cutthroat the business is, but there are hundreds if not thousands of stories like yours......I know, I lived it...if's like saying "Crazy" should not be credited to Patsy Cline....or "Hound Dog" should not be credited to Elvis Presley...it's the nature of the business, and unfortunately some people don't get the credit they deserve.

The reason above pretty well sums it up. Not unusual to have 2 drummers anyway. Doobies, Allman Bros., Joe Cocker, Motown. to name a few.

It sounds like absolute CRAP,pretty stupid playing it to drums & a squeaky vocal. It's an absolute perversion of the McCoys original.
