The guy Hal's singing about used to stand with his sign near one of the Nashville downtown exit/entrance ramps. A former master builder/renovator who fell on hard times through no fault of his own. Much of his classic work, on many of the downtown building interiors & exteriors, with classic architecture can be seen today. He was a stand-up guy.
