One of my favourite guitars is a Fender Telecaster. The "Made in Mexico" $499 Telecaster version of this guitar is one of the best on the market, if not the best. In this video the Tele is up against a Gibson Les Paul Traditional. Tele has no problem holding its ground.

Song played is "Can't Get Enough" by Bad Company.

the gibson is closer to the original song but i like the interplay between the 2 different gtrs and you couldn't go wrong with either.. regardless of where it was made.

This is one of the nicest videos I´ve seen. No bullshit, just sounds and playing speaking for themselves. I love the slight difference in the exact note when he plays the same parts on both guitars. I might add this version of the Telecaster is called FSR Satin Finish, and this one on particular is called "Arizona Sun". I had one of these in a golden color, but was not a great fan of the finish, it was not a smooth satin but had rather kind of a rough satin feel to it. I sold it and went for the (also mexican) FSR Deluxe Ash Telecaster, which allows the wood to be seen. Either way, these guitars are excellent, fortunately Fender has stepped up with quality control on recent years.

I have one of these MIM Satin Series Tele's in "Flame Orange". Mine plays and sounds just as good as any American made Standard Tele. The pickups on mine are a little hotter too.If anyone is in the market for a Fender Strat and doesn't want to pay the price of a USA model, I HIGHLY recommend the MIM Fender Deluxe Player's Strat. I have one of those also, and I'll put it up against any American made Strat. I mean, the thing plays like butter. It comes stock with all USA made parts, including American made Vintage Noiseless pickups. It's basically a USA Strat made in Mexico. Probably by the cousins of the guys who work at the Corona, CA factory.

best comparison video i've seen, I'm thinking about purchasing a tele but and I'm drawn to the American Deluxe. How would you compare the main differences between in sound and tone between the mexican one vs the murican' one?m

Very little difference! Nice demo! I plan to do one with a HH Tele vs a Les Paul. ;)

I'm a Les Paul player, have two Gibby Customs right now and also have owned a 2012 Traditional. I love the girth, thickness as tone. That said, the Tele is a great sounding guitar and likely that it's tonal dynamics are more suited to the recording device than the Gibson. Both sound great together, as evidenced on Slash's Made in Stoke live recording, where his Les Paul was complimented by his rhythm play we'd Tele.

Is the quality of the Teles consistent? Or are there good and bad production years?

not really. both sound awfully tinny. all due respect, but it takes a lot of work to make a les paul sound so trebly... really, to my ear -- and i have a g&l american made tele equivalent, bluesboy -- my les and the teles are two different beasts.

Did that tele by chance have a satin gold finish on it? I've been looking for a tele that had more a unique color and found one that looked just like that and I've been searching for videos of one to hear what it will sound like

That Gibson sounds kinda crappy. Might be because of the recording, but the Tele sounded actually good. My 150$ Les Paul copy sounds just as good. And I'm happy with its sound, but I expected the Gibson to be at least a bit better. Well its a Traditional, but the copy is a Traditional too.

I've got an MIM Tele and it's been my workhouse for almost 2 years now. She's a 2012 and I just love it so much best telecaster I've ever played.

Great Video. Great playing. I love the MIM! You make me want to go get one. It's got more note clarity, and jangle. The Les Paul takes the prize for "bold" and "girth". They'd sound excellent tracked together, each given a side of stereo - actually. Cheers. Great job.
