"Sixteen Salteens" uses just a few chords
Verse = E5 G5 A5 B5
Chorus = C5 D5
The solo is an E minor pentatonic solo
The first part is easy to figure out exactly
The second half of the solo is improvisation, so I just show the areas of the guitar you should try to mess around with until you figure out the solo or come up with one of your own that is real similar to the original -- I doubt Jack White knew exactly what he wanted to play for the final part, so for solos like these, I just keep in the same spirit as the original and don't sweat the details

these songs are pretty easy to master and provide a lot of fundamental techniques -- pentatonic scale, slides, hammer ons, basic chords, picking, etc ... But, for me, I didn't learn any of those songs starting out ... I learned mostly Modest Mouse, Radiohead, and White Stripes songs ... "Black Math" helped me master power chords, "Dead Leaves and Dirty Ground" was first solo I learned ... Radiohead songs use lots of weird chords, so exposed me to that ... just master some songs you love:)12 years назад

the way i got good at guitar fast was : year 1, I focussed mainly on learning to read notes and went through all the songs in Christopher Parkening Classical Guitar Volume 1 ; year 2, I learned a ton of pop/rock songs and found a good teacher to explain to me how the fundamentals of music theory and who helped get me started writing my own songs ... as for particular songs, i try to get my students to learn "Black Dog" by Led Zep, "Purple Haze" by Hendrix and "Good Riddance" by Green Day12 years назад

yeah, took me about 3 months of playing a lot (3-5 hours each day) to feel comfortable switching between basic chords ... takes about 2 years til you can really just jam and play ... but, after those first 3 months, it's becomes a lot easier and fun to keep pushing, because you'll have good momentum:)12 years назад
