Just five notes around the neck in many styles...
The classic boogie riff represents a matrix that has left an
indelible mark in much music and bands from Beatles to Led Zeppelin to Stevie Ray Vaughan to John Mayer. You will find many musical ideas in these few notes that you can easily apply in any genre or guitar style.
1.Try to play the boogie riff everywhere around the neck in every key, using different fingering, open strings, using a pick, a thumbpick, fingers, bending, slide ecc.
2.Analyze the intervals of this riff against E chord.
Now using only these five notes try to change rhythm, play new riffs, new lines and why not chords based on these notes.
You can write them or simply improvvise.
3. In this video every example in E. You can do the rest chords.
4.Play in your style but It could be fun and interesting try other styles.
5.Play everything on electric and acoustic guitar.
6.Listen blues records and play along with them. Recording are our books!!
7.I know much people will ask the tabs. Please use your ears
8.I like to study and having fun at the same time so I hope you enjoy this short video.
9.You can do this work with all riffs, lines, chords that you know.
