I like artists like Grieves because it's more relatable for me. I understand that Tupac, Biggie, and the like are really incredible lyrically, but they rap about a lot of things I just can't relate to. I really can't connect to life in the streets of Brooklyn, getting racially profiled, hating cops, selling drugs to live, etc. I need to hear about the human experience translated by other people and find what connects with me.

He is an artist, he can actually create something that effectively conveys his thoughts and emotions, you can actually feel his music. You get more out of one of his songs than the entire catalog of someone like Kanye or Drake. I think part of the reason people like this don't get picked up and promoted is they are too good, the industry can't create a new version of him every year and by comparison the other artists on the label would look like the synthetic "artist" substitutes they are.
