How fortunate you were. I managed to see Frank Sinatra in London on his last concert but for me Gordon MacRae even topped old blue eyes. Many people on here are saying how underrated he now is, well at least You Tube seems to be correcting some of that by the comments made.

A simply spectacular voice with a degree of handsome that matches it. Just a delight to hear and watch. Thanks for this video.

absolutley magic, I did'nt think I would prefer someone singing this lovely song better than Doris Day, but on hearing Gordan's version Ive changed my opinion.

His voice is spectacular. By far he is one of the greatest baritones of our generation. I never tire of his vocals.

Take a look at most lists of top male vocalists of the 20th century, and you may not find MacRae there. This is a shocking oversight. He is the equal -- in quality, phrasing, diction, strength, style -- of most anyone. I'm not going to tell you he's Sinatra, Crosby, or Bennett -- he's a bit more nondescript than they are -- but he is in the very next tier, imo. Perhaps the most underrated vocalist of the last 50 years.

@weightfeather1 I certainly agree. I was born in 1959, and have many fine memories of operatic and FULL-VOICED Broadway singers on TV in the 1960s and 70s. The latter included (besides Alfred Drake and John Raitt, who were sui generis) Richard Kiley, Stephen Douglas, Jerry Orbach, Robert Goulet, Howard Keel, Harve Presnell, Gilbert Price, John Cullum, Ron Holgate, Ken Primus --- that's off the top of my head. ALL these guys were more than willing to perform LIVE -- most without mics:) --

I love this by Doris Day but Gordon is even better - it takes me back to my romantic teens.

Gordon was easily the equal of Mario Lanza & Howard Keel but out of all three he seems to be the one the least remembered & that is not right!! Those three were magic & no modern singer comes anywhere near! My all time favourite singer is P.J.Proby & Gordon was one of his idols when he was a teenager in Texas.

I really didn't like this song before hearing him sing it here. Thanks for a great post.

I have looked for a version of this song sung by a male since it is very lovely but it is mostly Doris Day's version you come across and now I found Gordon MacRae's version of it. Good post for us music lovers..
