This is one of my favorite songs. Nanci kindly played it at my request on my birthday night. She and the band played it so beautifully that I just wept. Couldn't he'p it, as we say in Texious. It was in a plein-aire amphitheatre and as she finished I flipped a bottle cap to her in appreciation. My ex- was so jealous of Nanci that night, it was unspeakable. Good heavens, this is even better in concert. What a tune. What a tune.

As I hope I once conveyed to Nanci, I dream sometimes of writing American poetry so beautiful as this, but the thought of setting such idiomatic lyricism to timeless music--well, that's beyond my dreams. What a wonderful, eternal satisfaction it must be to know that you have written a perfect song! This song's so good that it transcends Envy.

I can't express how important Nancy's songs and voice are to me. I was given this album by the only woman I ever loved. I haven't seen 'her' for many years and I admit,I don't think of her so often these days, but when I hear Nancy all the 'noble madness' connected with being in love floods back. A bitter sweet experience for sure, but glad to have had it. No conscious intention today to seek Nancy out, just ended up here. Only as I type I realize today's the BD of the lady who gave me Nancy.
