xAxrules - Check out some of the live performances of the Miller band and singers from the two movies they made on YT. Many of them were still in their twenties and actually really cool. You can see they are having a really good time. Glenn Miller - Chattanooga Choo Choo - Sun Valley Serenade (1941). The dancers are great, too! :)

On this day in 1941 {May 7th} Glenn Miller & His Orchestra recorded "Chattanooga Choo Choo." and it was featured in the 1941 movie 'Sun Valley Serenade'... And on November 29th, 1941 it reached #1 {for 9 non-consecutive weeks} on the Best Sellers chart, the band's version of "Elmer's Tune" became #1 after Serenade's 4th week in the top spot, then it regained #1 for 5 more weeks... Then the band's version of "A String of Pearls" made #1 and ended its nine week stay at the top of the chart...

Actually, there's one group today that achieves the same harmony of voices as the Modernaires - of course, Manhattan Transfer :).

This music is timeless! I wasn't even born then, but the harmony in voices and instruments, you just compare them with today's "music". That word is a discrace today of what was REAL music.
