It's such a real shame the big band era had to die. As a kid I was a diehard Glenn Miller fan and can't help but feel the youngsters of today are missing so much in life. We, even a couple of generations after us, went to nice places and danced to beautiful music by bands like the Casa Loma Orchestra. Now they seem to listen to what I, for one, call nothing more than loud noise. Of course it was a different day and age when we old fogies were young. We seemed to have happiness and freedom the kids just don't have today.

It was a big big hit. There was several other versions on it but this one was the one that was the most popular. I had 2 copies of it so I wouldn't have to flip the record over when I would stack them on the record player.

The "Swingin' Years" is heard on Saturday nights, from 8 pm to midnight, Eastern Time, on WPPB (FM),[4] broadcasting from the Hamptons on Long Island, New York, and on "some 30 stations across the United States. He's also heard on the Armed Forces Radio Network."[5] The program was formerly heard on Saturday and Sunday mornings, from 6am to 10am, Pacific Time, on KKJZ, located in Long Beach, California.[

The closing music of my absolutely favourite radio program in the 70s. I listened to it every Sunday night with my Sennheiser headphones, because were in bed around midnight. I even bought a 120 minute cassette tape to record the last hour, and I listened to their jazz hour (from 23.00 to midnight) the next evening. Even after 40 years I still miss that program.

Certainly one of their finer performances. Terrific listening music from the golden era.
