One of the best songs ever - even Modern Family has featured it at least twice.

Great song... Wish they weren't rushed for time... They were singing so fast, could hardly keep up.... other than that, great performance.....

It would be nice if popular music today could have more beautiful women who carry themselves like Gladys Knight and Marilyn McCoo, etc., did on stage - just as they did (and still do) in life. Happy memories of a great era in music gone by.

In the fall of 1956 I was the quarterback of the Vardaman, Mississippi 9th grade football team.  I will say this because it helps the story -- I'd like to think that I had the Elvis look.  But the quarterback of the Pontotoc 9th grade team did me one better -- he had the Elvis look too, and they beat us twice, both at Vardaman and at Pontotoc. That quarterback was Jimmy Weatherly, who went on to be the Ole Miss quarterback in the early sixties, actually when they had an undefeated season about 1961 or 1962 -- the year of troubles on the Ole Miss campus. Why do I tell this story?  Because it was this same Jimmy Weatherly who wrote "Midnight Train to Georgia."  As Casey Stengel would say, "You could look it up."

I think you're right that it is lip-synched. But still a better performance than the lip-synched version from Soul Train. They tried to make it look real, instead of just phoning it in.

I think it is lip synched, most of the stuff from TOTPs was not live back then. I stand to be corrected of course.
