I was browsing around on YT about a year ago when I rediscovered this song. I remember liking it way back when it first came out, actually I loved it, but until a year ago I had completely forgotten that this song ever existed. You see, around my area, after this song had it's initial run on the radio they completely stopped playing it. Throughout the rest of the 90's and all throughout the 2000's I heard Hey Jealousy, and Til I Hear It From You more times than I can even count, but not this one. For some reason the radio stations around here just forgot it. When it came out I was just a kid, so I didn't know who it was by, or what the name of the song was, and after going over 20 years without hearing it, I forgot it. It was just random chance that I was ever lucky enough to find it again, and I can't help but wonder how many other songs I've forgotten from that time period simply because they haven't been lucky enough to receive continuous airplay.

Like to add that this cut allows the drums to shine a bit more than the production on their other material. He isn't bad, that drummer. But it seems the producer of their albums didn't like him that much! About the juxtaposition of liveliness and hopelessness: the trick is to live through it!

@lebarosky I signed in just to say i know exactly how you feel i just never knew how to put it into words.Full of life/dreams and hopelessness all at the same time.Whenever i feel that way i find myself here....seems like its more so in the fall.It feels kinda good to know that there is someone else who knows,what had been, an unexplainable feeling.

This music from the early 90s recalls to me a time in my life when everything was both full of life and yet ultimately, in many ways, hopeless. The Gin Blossoms just seemed to have my number on that feeling. This video catches the theme: the band is making beautiful music while the roof is falling in. That was my world circa 1993-1995.
