Blind lemon did not rip off the song though! He wrote a whole new composition with that line in the song. Unlike some other people I could name.

Blind Lemon Jefferson ripped off the line "I'm sitting here wondering, will a matchbox hold my clothes?" for "Match Box Blues". That was a common line that appeared in many different songs. This Ma Rainey song is at least three years before the Blind Lemon Jefferson song. So Jefferson got that line from "Lost Wandering Blues" or some other blues song that contained that line.
