I never said that she shouldn't practise. I said that she shouldn't practice/attempt to play baker street if she doesn't have a few years of experience on playing the sax. You ask any decent sax player/teacher and they'll tell you the exact same thing. The notes are easy to play, but getting the right tone/sound for baker street if very difficult. If she spends 20 mins a day doing long tone practice it will dramatically improve her tone and her control of the instrument.

She should be able to transpose it herself. If she's not able to, well then she's clearly not good enough to play this song. Anybody can learn the song, but it takes experience and knowledge to play it correctly. Hold her back, or tie her down or something if she wants to play this song and she's not ready for it! :P

Transposing down an octave in her head is GREAT practice. I suggest she turn the volume down and pause each page so she can practice playing it down an octave without having to keep up with the backing music until she gets it down.

That's not the only difference. For example: in the actual song the solos are much shorter... It was my choice to use this key. You're free to use the original key, but don't go telling me that it's wrong, because that's an arranger's choice. And also, this is the background. Why would you play with the original, while you can play whatever you want with this??

this is in the wrong key...... in the ACTUAL song the sax part is a semitone lower

To answer a lot of these questions: if you play sax, learn how to read sheet music. It is an essential skill to playing sax. Heck, most of the gigs I do involve reading, in front of a crowd. It'll take some time, but it's well worth your time.

Just take a little time each day working on sheet reading, and in a month or so you will be reading like a pro. Also playing by ear, while slightly harder for many is very useful; arguably even more so that sight reading depending on who you talk to. Either way both just require a little effort to learn and then, as long as you use the skills, only get better from there.

@MrBassman24frets Ive learnt it in a lower octave sounds okay but id prefer the original tune. Ive picked up pretty fast by going for more challenging songs

I have no idea how to read sheet music, anyone want to put that in Note form for a beginner like me? :)
