When American Bandstand was still being produced and broadcast from Philadelphia, a lot of the guest recording artists 'performed' their hit songs from various sites in and around the greater Philadelphia area as well as from New Jersey on the famed 'Steel Pier' in Atlantic City. This song was popular in 1964 which coincidentally, was the last year AB originated from Philadelphia before moving to Los Angeles on February 8th that same year. Yes, it was probably a cold damp day in late January or early February when this was filmed.

This is a really unusual video: Gene on a boat with a bunch of kids on what looks like a very cold day. Not the usual TV appearance to be sure. The song was a big hit in the Summer of '64, so the video must have been made long before or after. You sure find some rare things on YouTube
