when I woke up in Solano County CA in 1978, it didn't take me long to connect with 2 little but POWERFULLY SOLID radio stations: KTIM (san mateo) and KYLO (Davis). Tunes like this calmed fear of everything growing up Bakersfield or DEAD. The Parsons name sez it all, and the genre is as pure CA country Kickass as it gets this side of Sweetheart of the Powerglide....or was it Commander Grape plays HitRoad Stinkin Up an Icy Grapevine Hill??? I dunno..what I DO knowiz THIS 'un KICKS IT!!

@spacepatrolman thanks for this info. a soul sister singer I heard over radio complained about how Ochs always got a higher billing over her group during their tours during the "60s. like a wise guy told me all the time, be happy, you've never had it so good. if you think about this long enough you realize it's true, or you're bettter off thinking its true at least.

@pvelectric yea his sister said he was mentally ill he needed medication he bought a bar a wrecked the place after he was attacked in jamaca and his throat was hurt it affected him i have a friend who was mugged in an atm and had a nervous breakdown has to take medication

@WDockery yep Phil Ochs wrote this, and it was on his last album, Greatest Hits (ironic title), before his suicide. many on the political left have speculated some US right wing government spook agency murdered him, but the Fugs' Ed Sanders in July 1976, wrote a long essay in Chords Of Fame album liner notes, about Och's "sad last months," which caused him to croak himself, dispelling this kund of "stuff of legends.".

@BuddyPC electric motorcycles and bikes, charged by solar panels, could easily transport us to jobs within say 15 miles from our houses. this closeness of work to housing sure would be a big change, would cost a fortune, create millions of new jobs, not to go abroad to kill people to steal their oil, but to build and manufacture infrastructure and solar and wind manufactured goods, which we could then export. shame on the left & environmentalists for wanting jobs here in the US!
