This is actually the original version. The one with the speeded up horns is the one most people know from the radio. This is also on The, "You don't have to paint me a picture" album.

I like the other version better, but this is such a great song, it really doesn't matter.

hi papa - i was 14 when sure gonna miss her came out in 1966 in TORONTO - the song we heard here that was on the charts was the version with the horns - straight drums with no rolls - wasnt til the album HITS AGAIN came out that we heard this "alernate" version - love to know if Gary was on drums for either.

According to Lou Simon on Sirius/XM 60's Countdown that there are two versions, stereophonic and monaural. This one without the brass is the stereo version and the one with the brass intro is the mono version. I'm friends with Gary on Facebook. I will ask him.

This is actually the first version of this song that I ever remember hearing on a Dallas oldies station in the late 80s. I found the more "popular" version weak in comparison. This version has great drumming & piano, IMO, much more than the other version.
