this is when rap was in the college scene, lots of heady on the spot rappers that were distinct because of the requirements to flow, so things didn't seem to make sense unless you understood, then the hood rap kicked in with NWA and the boys from Compton, it was cool because you didn't have to have a brain to understand what they were saying.
