the reason for that is, the background vocals singers were featured but they were white women, but the backgrounds singers wee black. It was such as strange time back in those days. Thank goodness it starting to change.

Um....they should've stopped trying to sing the female verses of the song. I wonder why the background singers never performed the vocals with the band when they performed this song. I'm sure the background singers would've over shadow the group.
