@william20100 Its about Jack Hall, and English robber, hanged in 1707. Ex Chimney sweep. First recorded as being a popular song in London in the 1720s.

@boldfenianlad We used to listen to the Flying Column when we were coming through the brit barracks (getting our car searched) on our way back to the north years ago! My da always made sure they heard it too.
