Hello everyone!

This is a cover version of 'Kingborn' by Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Francesco Paoli is one of my absolutely favourite metal drummers, due to his super tight and powerful blasts. He is also one of very few, who can really nail a track at 270 bpm in a live situation.

So it was very challenging! Especially because of some fill ins and the double bass pattern during the verse. I originally wanted to use heel-toe-technique on this one (like Francesco does), but I didn't get it as clean as I wanted it to be. So after some takes I switched back to what I'm used to -- which is heel up/swivel.

I'm still working on it, or rather my balance during playing heel-toe. Maybe for the next video...

Very special thanks to my buddies Bartol and Reins from bazn sounds & records!!!

I also want to thank Dieter (and everyone who's involved) from Murat Diril Cymbals for always supporting me the best possible way - THANK YOU!

Except for the bass drum and (half) of the snare drum, all the drum sounds are natural (just used pre-set eqs and compressors). For the bass I used a standard sample from the Steven Slate foundry and for the snare I mixed signals (about one half natural sound with eq, comp and just a little verb; and the other half is again a standard snare from the Steven Slate foundry. I had to pitch the sound of the sample, so it would match my real snare.

It just gives you the attack during all the blast beats. And yes I admit, it sounds a bit unnatural but it's just a drum cover and you can sea that I'm actually playing it live...)

Furthermore I used

Dixon MBS shells (2x22", 8", 10", 12", 13", 16", 18")

A p.d.p. Limited Edition 20ply Snare with Die Cast Hoops (14"x8")

Pearl Demon Drive

A Roland SPD-S for triggering (bass drums)

And Murat Diril Cymbals:

20" t(h)rash crash

18" blast china

14" blast china

14" luminous hi hat

10" trash hats (10" blast china, 9" luminous splash)

8" & 9" renaissance splash

17" rock crash

16 speckled crash

18" rock crash

10" stack

18" rock china

19" rock china

22" rock mega bell ride

11" black sea hi hat

12" black sea trash hats

21" custom crash/ride

I was dying to find another great extreme metal drummer on Youtube as Alex Rudinger and Anthony Barrone. SUBSCRIBED.

Amazing playing! I just have one question, are you using the Roland RT-10S trigger? And do you put the trigger on the bottom of the snare? Thanks

David, please do a cover of "Abyssal" by Fleshgod Apocalypse! Please! The ending of that song is surely a test of endurance for the feet!

Man, you could easily replace the Fleshgod drummer, at least you can play their songs!

Those work boots he's wearing.. do they have steel shanks? Seems like a good idea for point of leverage on the pedals..
